Easy Crocheted Dishcloth

By Cheri Mancini

This makes a loose, thinner dishcloth than any of the worsted weight patterns I've seen. I personally like a thinner dishcloth. It's a stretchy dishcloth that wrings out easily.

Supplies:
Worsted weight cotton yarn
Size H crochet hook

Chain 29 (or any odd number of chains to achieve the desired width for your dishcloth)

Row 1: Sc in second chain from hook and in each chain across. Chain 1, turn. (28 sc)

Row 2: Sc in back loop of 1st sc. Sc in front loop of next sc. *Sc in back loop of next sc, sc in front loop of next sc. Repeat from * across row. Chain 1, turn.

Repeat row 2 for pattern. Continue crocheting the pattern until you reach the length that you want your dishcloth to be.

When the dishcloth is as long as you want it: Crochet the last row in sc, through both loops of prevous row of sc.

Finish off and hide ends.

  2. A fellow Ravelry member pointed out that this appears to be the same pattern that I posted on my blog in February of 2009, and also at Ravelry ( http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/thin-stretchy-dishcloth ) The stitch counts are the same, and even the wording is very similar. It's not nice to pass someone else's pattern off as your own.

  6. @Gardner- Didnt your mother ever teach you "if you dont have something nice to say, dont say anything at all.." get a life and find something better to do than criticize others!

  7. Just for the record, I very recently bought a crochet book by leisure arts, and this exact pattern was published in it. Very nice pattern, but also very basic. Not something that many people couldn't think up on their own! We must be careful, Gardner, about accusing of stealing... you might be accused as well. Thanks, Deborah. I agree its a great pattern!

  8. This pattern is not new at all. It's very basic and one I learned 20 years ago. So Gardner you need to stop.

  14. Thanks for the idea! I prefer cleaning with my own homemade cleaning solutions and the perfect addition to them is such a cleaning cloth. Made from the right yarn this beautiful cloth can be very useful. Recently I crocheted few tulle dish scrubbers and my friends liked them very much. Thank you for sharing this pattern, it's great!
