Materials:
100% Cotton Leftovers (from your other dishcloths)
Hook size: 5mm
With 1st Color, ch 6.
Row 1: Sc in 2rd ch from hook and in each ch across – 5 sc.
Rows 2-5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across; change to 2nd Color in last st of Row 5.
First Strip
Row 1: With 2nd Color, turn piece clockwise 90 degrees to work along ends of rows of Center Square, ch 1, work 5 sc evenly spaced across ends of rows of Center Square – 5 sc.
Rows 2-5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across; change to 3rd Color in last st of Row 5.
Second Strip
Row 1: With 3rd Color, turn piece clockwise 90 degrees to begin work along ends of rows of First Strip, ch 1, work 5 sc evenly spaced across ends of rows of First Strip; working in opposite side of foundation ch of Center Square, sc in each ch across – 10 sc.
Rows 2-5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across; change to 4th Color in last st of Row 5.
Third Strip
Row 1: With 4th Color, turn piece clockwise 90 degrees to begin work along ends of rows of Second Strip, ch 1, work 5 sc evenly spaced across ends of rows of Second Strip, work 5 sc evenly spaced across ends of rows of Center Square – 10 sc.
Rows 2-5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across; change to 5th Color in last st of Row 5.
Fourth Strip
Row 1: With 5th Color, turn piece clockwise 90 degrees to begin work along ends of rows of Third Strip, ch 1, work 5 sc evenly spaced across ends of rows of Third Strip, sc in each sc across center section, work 5 sc evenly spaced across ends of rows of previous strip – 15 sc.
Rows 2-5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across; change to next Color in last st of Row 5.
Next Strip
Row 1: Turn piece clockwise 90 degrees to begin work along ends of rows of strip just completed, ch 1, work 5 sc evenly spaced across ends of rows of strip just completed, sc in each sc across center strip, then work 5 sc evenly spaced across ends of rows of previous strip.
Rows 2-5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across; change to next color in Color Sequence in last st of Row 5.
Work new strips in Color Sequence until work measures the size you want.
Border:
Reverse sc around dishcloth (crab stitch) evenly, putting 2 rev sc in corners.
Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
