Big Stitch 7 - What a GREAT day!

The pictures tell it all -- a fabulous day and our largest Stitch yet! Over 115 fiber folks came to knit, crochet, shop, visit and attend classes at the first Big Stitch University session. Based on evaluations, we will be adding several more classes in October and repeating several of the most popular ones. Thanks to everyone for the huge donations for the boutique as well as helmet liners, afghans, baby blankets and hats and dishcloths.

Book Making Class

  • Had to share this with everyone! On Friday, July 23, from 10:00 a.m.-12 noon, FiftyForward Knowles will have a Japanese Style Handmade Book Making Class. This picture does not truly interpret how beautiful this book is. The cloth cover continues inside both front and back. The pages are beautiful art paper. Cost is only $10 and all of the supplies are included -- there will be dozens of fabrics to choose from! Instructor is Lesley Patterson-Marx, an award winning artist and currently an art teacher at The University School. If you are interested in the class, call me at 615/743-3400.

Military Donation Update

From BJ Strickland:

I got the afghans all delivered and left both places your name & the website address. They said they would try to get a photo for you too. The VA now has a women's center and they said they can use the "not so manly" colors for them.

Blanket Donation from MA

Beautiful afghan sent for flood victims from Maureen McMahon. She writes "Heard about you via the Global Knit group on ravelry.com. Saw so much about the devastation there. Happy to make this for the flood survivors." This blanket, along with others that have been donated, will be given to a family when they are settled back into their home.
