Scrap Hat
Cute hat that uses all of your odds and ends! Make your own "crazy" ball of yarn and then knit or crochet a hat using your favorite pattern. Put all of the knots to the outside. Trim the ends so they are relatively even.
How to make crazy yarn: Take all of your bits of leftover yarns which have been accumulating.Cut them into assorted lengths (no greater than six yards) then mix them all up and knot them together randomly. No fancy knotting technique, just leave a tail of about an inch or so. Don’t worry about fiber type and thickness. Mix together cottons, acrylics, wools, novelty yarn, and every possible blend in between.

Mending Hearts
Yesterday a donation of hats, scarves and gloves was made to Mending Hearts. I contacted them after reading about them last month in The Tennessean. Mending Hearts is a residential recovery-oriented therapeutic community for women who are or are at risk of becoming homeless as a result of their addiction to drugs, alcohol or both. There are so many needs in our communities. Thank you for your hard work helping Knit and Crochet Tennessee make a difference in our community.

Baby Blanket Donation
Nancy Mason, Program Director of the African American Infant Mortality Reduction Initiative and Mamie Turner, Outreach Worker for Mothers United for Healthy Babies admire the beautiful knitted and crocheted baby blankets and hats that were recently donated to their organization, United Neighborhood Health Services. These blankets will be given to young mothers in the Edgehill Community as well as those living in the JC Napier and Tony Sudekum neighborhoods.
